Update to road closures due to wildfire activity
The Department of Natural Resources (Fairbanks Area Forestry) has closed a number of logging roads due to the Skinny’s Road and Stuart Creek 2 fires. These roads will remain closed until the fires are controlled and road conditions allow for resumption of normal traffic flow.
Skinny’s Logging road remains closed due to the Skinny’s Road Fire. This road is located to the north of Milepost 327 of the Parks Highway.
Jenny M Road, Grange Hall South Road and Chena Access Lane are closed due to the Stuart Creek 2 Fire. These roads are located off of Chena Hot Springs Road on the south of mileposts 20.2, 21.9 and 25.5 respectively.
With the lifting of the Evacuation Watch for the Two Rivers Area, the Two Rivers Logging Road located north at Milepost 18.4 of Chena Hot Springs Road has been reopened. A personal use firewood permit is required for harvesting wood in the designated firewood areas within the Tanana Valley State Forest. You can obtain a firewood permit by visiting Fairbanks Area Forestry at 3700 Airport Way or through the web at http://forestry.alaska.gov/FPS.
A notice will be issued when it is safe to resume use of the closed logging roads.
