State labor officials say Alaska's unemployment rate for July was 6 point 3 percent.
The rate in the Fairbanks North Star Borough was a full point less.
The national unemployment rate for July was 7 point 4 percent.
Summer jobs helped keep the unemployment rate low throughout Alaska.
The lowest rates were in Bristol Bay and Skagway, at 1 point 1 percent and 2 point 3 percent, respectively.
Both areas have small year-round populations, and each depends heavily on summer jobs to get them through the winter.
