UAF's Heller gets a step closer to making the German national team

FEDERAL WAY, WASH-Last week we reported on Bente Heller, UAF's top swimmer trying to make the German National team. Over the weekend she completed step one.

At the Sockeye Spring Open in Federal Way, Washington Heller turned in the top 50 free time. A 26.82 second swim which ranks her 15th in Germany. In the 100 free Heller swam a personal best 57.76 seconds which is the first time she broke the one minute mark. That time puts her 25th in Germany. In the 100 back, Heller swam just under 1:05 which is a couple of seconds off the top ten in Germany.

Heller has two more meets to crack the top ten German rankings in any event in order to make the national team. Her next meet starts May 31st for the Northern German Championships followed by the German championships in Berlin on June 12th.
