UAF women's hockey team loses first game of national tournament

NEWARK, DE-The Nanook men's hockey team isn't the only UAF hockey team in the postseason. The UAF women's hockey club team is in Delaware for the ACHA women's division 2 national tournament.

The women's hockey team would lose their first tough matchup today. No.2 Penn State won 3-2 over UAF. The Nooks led 1-0 after the first but the Nittany Lions scored three unanswered goals, two in the 2nd and 1 in the third and hold on for the 3-2 win.

Tomorrow UAF will play no.4 North Dakota State who beat the University of Delaware 7-1 today.

The Nooks were runner-up last year and make their 3rd straight appearance. The national tournament runs through Sunday.

The Nanooks finished the year 7-1-2 and come in a as top 5 west region team. Katrina Lydon, the goalie, is second in the division 2 in goals allowed at 1.3.

UAF is in a tough pool with no.2 Penn State and no.4 North Dakota state.
