UAF women's basketball adds two transfer guards

FAIRBANKS-The UAF women's basketball team announced that two junior college guards will be Nanooks in the fall. Head coach Cody Bench picked up two NWAACC All-Stars from Washington in Victoria Elleby and Arinesha Smith.

Elleby is a 5'-10" guard from Seattle transferring in from Highline Community Colleg. As a sophomore Elleby averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and 1.5 steals a game and was named First-Team All Western Region. She scored double digits in 21 of 22 games and has four double doubles. Elleby plans to major in political science.

Smith is a 5'-5" guard from SeaTac and is coming off a sophomore campaign at Lower Columbia College where she averaged 11.6 points, four rebounds and three assists. She is a two-time All-Western Region first teamer. In high school she led the state in scoring with 28 points per game for Tyee High School in Seattle. Smith plans to major in business admin.

Smith and Elleby join Heather Heild as signed UAF recruits for the 2014-2015 season.
