HILO, HAWAII-The Nanook women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season last night and it was in another close one with Hawaii-Hilo 60-58.
The Nanooks came roaring back to take a 56-54 lead with 1:31 to go. They trailed 33-21 at halftime.
Jordan Wilson tied the game at 58 all with 35 second left from the free throw line but The Vulcans went 6-6 in their last three trips to the line. Benissa Bulaya missed a jumper with four second left to force overtime.
UAF shot 29 percent for the game and was 0-12 from three. The Vulcans weren't that much better shooting 33 percent but went 6-12 from deep. Both teams were in the mid 60s from the charity stripe.
Wilson had a game high 18 points and 11 rebounds for Alaska.
The Nanooks are now 4-1 and will return to Fairbanks to prepare for the North Star Invitational Tournament that starts next Thursday Nov. 28.
