PORTLAND, OREGON-Today the GNAC Conference announced that UAF's Kerri Knight is their Woman of the Year.
Knight will represent UAF and the GNAC as one of 75 NCAA division two nominees for the honor. Over 400 graduating female student athletes from all divisions were nominated.
From here Knight could make the top 30 which will be voted on in September by the Woman of The Year committee which will take 10 from each division. The NCAA Woman of the Year Award will picked on Oct. 19 from the final nine-three from each division.
Keeping up the tradition is Knight. Former Alaska volleyball player Jordyn Montgomery was also GNAC Woman of the Year back in 2011-2012.
Knight graduated last month from UAF with a 3.85 GPA in business admin. She was student of the year for the school of management, was female scholar athlete of the year for the UAF Athletic Advisory Committee and was the Nanooks SAAC president for two terms.
On the volleyball court Knight was a three year starter and two year captain. In 98 matches she has 653 kills, 303 digs and 71 kills. In her last year she posted an 18 match hitting streak of at least seven kills.
