FAIRBANKS- Student Veterans of UAF and ROTC organized a ceremony to pay tribute to military service members of modern wars. The outdoor event started at 8 am when volunteers began reading the names of more than 6,700 people who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. The "roll call" will last throughout the day until the closing ceremonies and candle light vigil at 5. Organizers say, during the last year, about 200 hundred more names have been added to the roll call. This is the first year organizers will host a candle light vigil to honor the service members. The ceremony focuses on wars in Iraq and Afghanistan because many people have a strong connection to them.
