GENEVA, OH-The Nanook swimming team's season ended over the weekend and UAF accomplished some firsts for the program. Alaska placed 14th overall with 106 team points. That's the best they've ever done at the NCAA Championships.
The team earned nine All-American honors. Five of them in were in the relays where UAF also set new program records in each relay.
Saturday's 3:36.9 time in the 400 relays was a new program set on the final race on the final day.
Freshmen Victoria Adams and sister Margot Adams both had five total All-America honors. Senior Bente Heller finishes her career with 14 All-America awards and the 2013 100 backstroke national championship.
Alaska finished the year 5-9 and 4-2 in the PCSC conference, placing third in the conference championships and were ranked as high as 12th nationally.
