UAF rifle solidifies no.2 ranking after NCAA qualifier

FAIRBANKS-At the end of the NCAA Qualifier match on Saturday at the EF Horton Rifle Range the Nanooks secured their number two ranking.

Alaska shot a 4679 on Saturday which was good enough for no.2. West Virginia is no1 and Kentucky no.3.

For Alaska Tim Sherry and Mike Liuzza both shot 588s to lead in air rifle. Sherry had 44 center shots to Liuzza's 41. Ryan Anderson shot a match high 587 in smallbore.

No. 20 UTEP and no.17 Nevada who were also in Fairbanks for the qualifier ended up close with UTEP winning by two points.

Now NCAA selection show will be Thursday at 5 eastern and next week the NCAA teams and individual lists will be announced.

The NCAA Championships are Mar. 14-15 at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Kentucky.
