UAF men finish second and women third in first meet

FAIRBANKS- The Nanook men took second place in the long course race on the West Ridge Trails tonight. Freshman Keegan Rankin finished in eighth with a 27:7.9 run to lead UAF. Teammate Ross MacDougal was ninth coming in two seconds later. Tal Norvell and Mitch Burgess went 11th and 12th for the Nanooks as well Tux Seims and Kenneth Brewer also finished in a duo going 16th and 17th respectively.

Montana State Billings took top honors sweeping sports 1-5. They were led by Robert Peterson who set the pace with his 26:12.8 time in the 8K

On the women's side more freshmen make contributions for the Nanooks. Kali Stricker and Dorothy O'Donnell crossed the finish line in 24:02.3 and 24:02.5 for six and seventh place. Maddy Pfeifer was a ninth place finisher with a 24:27.9 time.

Seattle Pacific's Mckayla Fricker was the top women finishing in 22:58.3 which was 15 seconds faster than teammate Anna Patti. Seattle Pacific won the women's long course followed by Montana State Billings and UAF.

Both team will go back on the West Ridge Trails Saturday morning at 10 am for the 4K short course races.
