UAF Hockey wins CCHA regular season finale over Michigan State

FAIRBANKS, Ak-It was the last CCHA regular season game for the Alaska Nanook hockey program on Saturday night. At the puck drop the CCHA Membership Donors were recognized as the donors who made Division-1 hockey possible at UAF in the CCHA conference.

However, once the game started, Michigan State scored first in the first like they did Friday. Michigan State's Matt Perry scored on the power play.
But UAF's Michael Quinn tied it in the second with shot from the top of the slot. Or would he? It was reviewed and then confirmed it was goal. The puck narrowly got inside the left post for a Nanook power play goal. No review on the second goal as Andy Taranto scores on a redirect after a shot fired in from the top slot by Colton Parayko. 2-1 Nanooks.

The Spartans wouldn't go away as Darnell Brent scores and ties it at 2 all in the third. When the Nanooks need a goal Mr. Clutch Andy Taranto answers the call. Taranto scores the game winner at the 18:57 mark of the third. Adam Henderson scored on an empty net for the final goal as the Nanooks win 4-2 in their last CCHA game.

The win was marred a bit as the Spartans didn't like Henderson's celebration after the empy net and as tempers flared with seconds left to go and a rare brawl ensued.
Jake Chelios of Michigan State got into with UAF's Nolan Kaiser and was the main event aside from the other scuffles going on. Chelios was ejected and Kaiser got a couple of roughing after the whistle penalties and a 10 minute misconduct but disqualifications were called on either player. No word has come out on games being missed.

A crazy ending but the big thing is that UAF leaves their regualr season as a CCHA member a winner.
