FAIRBANKS-The Nanook hockey team will look to extend their winning streak to five games this Friday.
They host the no.4 team in the nation and WCHA leader Ferris State this weekend. It will be Alaska's no.1 scoring offense (3.37 g/gm) against The Bulldogs no.1 scoring defense (2.15 g/gm 0).
The Bulldogs are coming off a sweep of UAA and have already clinched a home playoff series with a 18-4-2 WCHA record. Justin Buzzeo and Garrett Thompson are the 1-2 punch who leads Ferris's no.2 scoring offense (3.36 g/gm) with 27 and 26 points. Goalie CJ Motte has a 22-5-3 record when in-between the pipes.
But the Nooks are rolling winning six of their last seven games. Sophomore Nolan Huysmans is coming off a seven point Michigan Tech series where he was named WCHA offensive player of the week. Junior netminder Sean Cahill was defensive player of the week after that series and is 6-3-1 on the year.
Senior Captain Colton Beck is seven points away from 100 career points. But the captain and the team are focused on keeping things simple. They say that's been the key to their individual and team success during this run.
