UAF has record setting performances at Husky Invitational

FAIRBANKS-The Nanook swim team was simply superb in their last meet before the Christmas break.

At the end of three days of swimming in the Husky Invitational in Federal Way, Washington over the weekend, the Nanooks came away with 24 NCAA B standard times, 55 personal bests, and four new program records.

Gabi Summers set a new record in the 500 free finishing just under five minutes. The 400 medley relay team beat last year's record by a second and Victoria Adams broke the 200 yard backstroke record twice and that happened on the first day.

Bente Heller got an A standard in the 100 backstroke and 5 other B standards. But this week's Nanook of the week goes to Margot Adams.

Adams set a new record in the 200 IM in 2:05.5 seconds. She only swam this event twice. She was a part of the 200 medley relay team that won for the first time at the Invitational. Adams nabbed eight other B standard times and was second in the 100 fly.

UAF finished as the top college team and finished sixth overall at the Husky Invitational. The Nooks will be back in the pool on Jan. 4 in a tri-meet against Biola and Fresno Pacific in California.
