UAF Forms a Budget Options Group

FAIRBANKS- A newly formed group at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is brainstorming ways to cut spending for 2014. Yesterday, the Budget Options Group started to categorize different expenses, like staffing and off- campus buildings, which could see funding reductions. Governor Sean Parnell has proposed a tighter university budget and members of the group say they’re planning for 7- million to 14- million dollar cuts. Ultimately the group will provide suggestions to the Budget Planning Committee, a task that officials say will not be easy.
