FAIRBANKS- The University of Alaska Board of Regents is in Fairbanks again for their regular meeting. Today, the board unexpectedly faced a full hour of public testimony regarding a comment made at their previous meeting. During the November meeting, Regent Kenneth Fisher mentioned changing the employee tuition waiver to keep tuition costs down. Nearly everyone who testified this morning said, the idea was frightening because it’s a huge benefit to employees. Regents were surprised at the overwhelming feedback because they weren’t seriously considering changing the waiver. Board Chair Pat Jacobson said it was good testimony to hear and the board learned a lot.
