Two people killed in accident on Parks Highway

Alaska State Troopers say two people were killed late Sunday afternoon in a two vehicle crash along the Parks Highway near Cantwell.   Troopers got the call around 4:30 pm responding to Mile 186 near the East Chulitna Fork Bridge, about 25 miles south of Cantwell.  In a news release, Troopers say two pickup trucks, each towing a trailer, collided in the middle of the road.  Troopers say both drivers died in the accident.  Both vehicles carried a female passenger.  Both women were reported to be alert, and sustained non-life threatening injuries.  The accident has closed the Parks Highway until at least 9p.m. tonight while an investigation is being conducted.  Troopers say the highway could remain closed until as late as 11 p.m.  This is a developing story.  News Center 11 will have more as information becomes available.
