Two Malemutes win softball tournament

SALEM, OR-A couple of local softball players won a tournament featuring 14 teams from Oregon, California and Wyoming. Lathrop's Kacey Duffield and Payge Scanlon-Boswood were a part of the 907 Elite team what went a perfect 7-0 in the Amateur Softball Association Western National 18U B Tournament in Salem Oregon over the weekend. The 907 also had players from West, Juneau-Douglas, Bartlett and state champion East Anchorage.

Bill Duffield, Lathrop's head coach was also an assistant coach.

907 Elite beat Oregon Chaos in the title game 12-3. 907 scored at least eight runs in all of their victories. Kacey Duffield generated 14 strikeouts and a 0.61 ERA in 23 innings over six games.
