Two fire calls in two minutes.

On Saturday, shortly after noon, the North Star Volunteer Fire Department responded to two different fires within two minutes of each other.
The first was a chimney fire at 3427 Old Richardson Highway in Moose Creek, and the other was a mobile home fire at 1725 Hollowell Road.

The North Pole and Eielson Fire Departments responded to the Moose Creek address with a North Star officer.
Two North Star engines and two Chief Officers responded to the Hollowell address.
Crews quickly contained the flames there, but heavy smoke and heat caused to much damage for the occupants to return and the Red Cross was called to help them.
The fire on the Old Rich was contained to the smoke stack, and there was no damage to the home.
