At approximately 1200 hours, the Alaska State Troopers encountered 

the shooting suspect. The suspect was armed. AST fired upon the suspect. The 

suspect is now deceased. Additional details of the circumstances surrounding 

the encounter and the identity of the suspect are under investigation. 

Travel along the Parks Highway in this area is now unrestricted.
