Troopers Identify Woman killed in Collision

Alaska State Troopers responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident yesterday afternoon on Badger Road.

According to Troopers, 35 year old Jennifer Santell of North Pole did not survive the collision.

The driver of a Ford pickup truck was traveling East on Badger Road, when he lost control on a curve and struck Santell head on.  Santell was driving a Jeep Liberty.

The other driver identified as 54 year old Jean Peif reported no injuries at the time of the crash.

The collision left areas of Badger Road closed for hours and Troopers asked motorists to take alternate routes.

Troopers also urged motorists to use caution when driving in snow and ice, especially during the shift from summer to winter conditions.

The accident remains under investigation.

There are not any indications that alcohol or drugs were involved; however, troopers are investigating whether or not speed was a factor.
