A memorial service was held today for two Alaska State Troopers who were fatally shot in Tanana last week.
Sgt. Scott Johnson and Trooper Gabe Rich were killed while attempting to arrest 58-year-old Arvin Kangas by his son Nathanial Kangas.
Today thousands gathered inside the Carlson Center from across the nation to celebrate the lives of the two well-known Troopers.
Many people spoke at the service about the lives of the two men and how they affected the lives of their own.
Friend of the two, Keith Mallard in an emotional reading said, "Scott Johnson will be remembered how he lived rather than how he died. He was an outdoorsmen, a brother, hunter, and an Alaskan."
