Trial today for Fairbanks man accused of murder

A 21-year old Fairbanks man will go on trial today for a murder committed in 2011.

Last year 22-year-old Cornelius Everett pled guilty to the second degree murder of a 55-year-old acquaintance Johnson Griffin and accepted a 15-year jail term for his role in Griffin's death, but just days later he changed his mind and his plea.

The case stems back to the June, 2011 beating death of the 55 year old man in his Northward Building Apartment.

A medical examiner concluded Griffin died from blunt force trauma to the chest, which caused severe internal bleeding.
