If sitting at your desk hurts your back, you are not alone and it could be causing more problems than you know.
James Uhrich says "I just like to be up and about. I don't, I'm not the type of person that likes to sit around or can sit around all day. I'm just, i'm too restless."
Research published in the archives of internal medicine shows that prolonged sitting increases the risk of many diseases.
Sitting more than 11 hours a day increases your risk of dying within 3 years by 40 percent.
And sitting 8 to 11 hours, increases the risk by 15 percent.
Dr. Stuart Rugg of Occidental College said "We are built to move. We are built to perceive how we move. So the fact that people can spend as much time as they do sitting seems counter to the way we're designed."
