Thursday High School Sports scores

FAIRBANKS-In high school hoops Thursday night the Patriots visited West Valley. The student section was hype-the "Shotwell Sychos". They were loud but the Patriots played a great first half .

They ran a football play for Lance Wright catching touchdowns on the court. Then the beautiful back door pass from Buck Nolan to Khalil Steward. He had 10 points and nine rebounds. Nolan added nine points and eight rebounds. It was tied 14-14 after one and North Pole led 28-22 in the 2nd

But Daniel Hornbuckle caps off a run with a 3 at the buzzer that tied it at 31. He had nine points, 12 assists and six steals.

In the second half Travon Brackett and the defense did the rest. Brackett went off for 18 of his team's 21 points in the third. He had a game high 29 points. The Patriots only scored three in the third and West Valley wins 67-42.

In the girls contest fifth ranked West Valley led North Pole 30-2 at the half and defeat the Patriots 57-28. Carlee Marques had a game high 16 points for West Valley.
 
In the Barrow Whaler Invitational the Hutch and boys and girls teams lost to Mt. Edgecumbe their openers. 34-25 in the girls game and 74-53 in the boys game going to the Braves.

Both Hutch teams play Barrow on Friday.

HOCKEY

Also in prep sports in hockey last night North Pole was home to the West Valley Wolfpack.

The Patriots were coming off of that big overtime win over Lathrop but West Valley brought them back to earth with an 8-0 shutout victory. The Wolfpack face rival Lathrop on Friday.
