Study gives low marks to four Alaska hospitals

Four Alaska Hospitals, including Fairbanks Memorial, could face penalties because of infection rates and hospital acquired conditions.

Under the Affordable Care Act's Hospital Acquired Condition Reduction Program, Fairbanks Memorial could lose up to 400 thousand dollars in Medicare reimbursements.

The Kaiser Health News reported that Providence Alaska medical center, the Alaska regional hospital and Alaska native medical center are also in the bottom 25 percent of Alaska facilities analyzed during the period between July 2012 to June 2013.
