Structure fire destroys North Pole home

A structure fire destroyed a mobile home in North Pole early this morning.

According to a press release by North Star Volunteer Fire Department, the fire was reported at 12:30am and responders were told that occupants were trapped inside the residence.

Due to that report, North Pole, Fort Wainwright, and Fairbanks Fire Departments provided mutual aid.

Upon arrival fire officials determined all occupants were accounted for and they were able to control the blaze.

Two of the pets in the home were unaccounted for and it was later reported that one dog perished in the blaze.

One of the occupants also reportedly sustained minor burns, but refused medical care on scene.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.
