Steward powers Patriots in road rematch, Malemutes sweep

FAIRBANKS-Last night at Hutchison high school was the rematch between the Hawks and Patriots. The last time they played it was an overtime thriller. North Pole won that game.

The Hawks rallied from a double digit deficit with three pointers from Daniel Page. He led the Hawks with nine points. His four point play in the fourth quarter brought the Hawks within one but the Patriots answered every time with Khalil Steward. He had a game 21 points, 17 in the second and 24 rebounds for a 20-20 game.

Ryan Delaurie, who finished with 13 points, hit a big three in the fourth to give North Pole their second double digit lead. Lance Wright protected the pain with five blocks and he also had a double-double with 10 and 10.

North Pole holds off the Hawks on the road 57-49.

Across town at Lathrop High School the Malemutes hosted the Eielson Ravens.
