States largest insurance company will reinstate coverage

Alaska's largest health insurance company, Premera Blue Cross, Blue Shield, will allow customers to keep insurance plans that were previously cancelled.

Premera says it will allow 5 thousand 200 customers to keep their plans into the new year.

In October, Premera had contacted customers and said their plans were being cancelled because they didn't meet requirements of the federal Affordable Care Act.

This month, President Obama said insurance companies could offer the canceled plans for another year.

Premera customers must extend their plans by Dec. 31.
