State Senate passes anti-cyberbullying bill

The Alaska State Senate has passed a bill making cyber bullying a misdemeanor offense.

The bill, 128, sponsored by Republican Senator Kevin Meyer of Anchorage puts legal action to those under the age of 18 who use electronic devises as a tool for bullying.

According to Meyer, this bill creates accountability and punishment outside of the school system for those involved in bullying.

It passed the Senate unanimously and now will go to the House for a vote.
