Small House Fire in Goldstream

FAIRBANKS- The Steese Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single- story house fire in the Goldstream Valley, this morning. When they arrived, nobody was at home and the floor was burning, causing extensive interior damage. Firefighters on scene estimate about $50,000 of damage inside the house. While the cause of the fire was unclear, Fire Chief Mitch Flynn says they receive more fire calls at the beginning of spring, because of improper stove maintenance through the winter. He suggests keeping stoves clean and well-maintained. He also says clean property helps first responders act quickly when arriving on scene.
