Sluice Box 100 registration deadline is tonight

FAIRBANKS-The Sluice Box 100 will go down this weekend. The 100 mile test of endurance will start early Saturday morning.

But before that there is a meeting tomorrow on Friday at 5 p.m. in the Reichardt Building at UAF. The mandatory pre-race meeting.

The third annual race which has five legs starts at 7a.m. this Saturday morning at Mushers Hall on Farmers Loop.

There are three divisions which include individual run and bike and a relay run and bike. The trail features swamp crossings, a 12,000 foot elevation and five checkpoints as the course goes to Ester Dome and Moose Mountain.

Participants will have 36 hours to finish the race which ends at the FE Gold Camp at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Next Friday is July 4 and that means the Independence Day Run.

The 5K race will be having it's 29th race at Pioneer Park next Friday morning at 10 a.m. It's $20 to race but it's $25 to register on the day of the race.

The first 100 people to sign up will get T-shirts. Proceeds from the race go to the West Valley High School Cross Country running team.
