Late last evening officials with the State Division of Forestry announced they would close the Parks Highway due to the Skinny Road Fire.
As of this afternoon piloted traffic along the highway moving North and South bound has been reinstated from mile 317 to 344.
According to Pete Buist with the Division of Forestry, the fire that grew Wednesday is significantly larger than originally thought and near 1,000 acres and it is located about a half mile from the highway.
The fire teams in the area have begun structure protection assessments however; no evacuations have been issued at this point.
Nearly 0.24 inches of rain fell last evening which helped crews to get the traffic moving again.
However, travellers are still expected to experience delays if travelling.
