Sherry wins smallbore national title for UAF, Nooks in second

MURRAY, KY-Talk about clutch performances by Nanooks. Last night Colton Beck won UAF's playoff game in overtime and then a Nanook on the rifle team shoots a clutch shot of his own on the national stage.

Today sophomore Tim Sherry of the rifle team won the 2014 National Smallbore by a half a point.

West Virginia's Garrett Spurgeon shot a 7.6 on his last for .4 lead. Sherry shot a 7.7 to claim the title in his first national championship appearance.

Junior Ryan Anderson was second on the team with a 579 and finished 21st overall. Mike Liuzza and Mats Ericksson were 24th and 25th respectively.

Right now UAF is second after the first day. West Virginia (2338) is up by 17 and Memphis is just one point behind Alaska.
