Sentencing for Schaeffer Cox

FAIRBANKS, AK -- A day after sentencing for his fellow militia member, the leader of the Two for One Militia was sentenced in Federal Court.

Schaeffer Cox will spend nearly 26 years in prison.

Judge Robert Bryan yesterday sentenced the militia leader during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Anchorage.

Before he was sentenced, Cox apologized to family and friends, saying he was acting out of fear before his arrest in March 2011.

Cox was convicted of nine federal charges, including conspiracy to kill federal law enforcement officers and possession of illegal weapons.

Another Militia member, Lonnie Vernon, also received nearly 26 years in prison when he was sentenced Monday.

Lonnie's wife, Karen Vernon, will serve 12 years, with five years of supervised probation once she is released.
