Sentencing hearing underway in murder case

A sentencing hearing started today in Fairbanks superior court for 35 year old  Nyrobbie Chandler.

Chandler had previously pleaded guilty to second degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of his estranged girlfriend, 31–year old Kaylynn  Bishop.

As part of the plea agreement, Chandler faces up to 75 years in jail when he is sentenced tomorrow.

Chandler and his attorney, Robert Noreen, had made plans to use a "diminished capacity," defense had he gone to trial in the case, but those plans eventually fell through.
