A Fairbanks man who attacked a man with a hammer over an unpaid debt has been sentenced to three years in prison.
36–year–old Jesse Garcia pleaded guilty to first–degree robbery as part of a plea agreement.
The case is pending against co–defendant Joseph Keene.
The two were arrested in October on charges that they drove a man around the North Pole area, taking electronics from his brother and using his bank card to steal more than $500.
The victim identified Garcia as the man who hit him with the hammer.
He said he suffered three broken vertebrae and stitches in his head.
