Senator Mark Begich says bill will rollback USPS price increase

A sudden rate hike in postal prices by the United States Postal Service increased shipping rates to Rural Communities in Alaska late last month.

Some costs went up by roughly 50 percent, especially those sending heavy parcel posts.

Senator Mark Begich demanded a meeting with the USPS Postmaster General today to address the many postal service problems that are faced here in Alaska.

Begich said today he introduced a Bill that would bring the rates back down by rolling them back over a period of roughly 5 days.

He says he also addressed the importance of rural post offices to those who live in the areas and rely on shipments from USPS.
