FAIRBANKS- It was another "rain day" for schools across the borough. An early morning mist created difficulties for drivers and concern among school district officials. They cancelled schools because the light rain created layers of ice on roads and windshields. During the past several years, the school district has budgeted icy days into the school calendar, meaning students will spend an extra day in school at the end of the year. Administrators say it's a tough decision to cancel school, because it disrupts parent schedules and some employee paychecks.
