One in three Americans are said to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
But Americans are not about to take that lying down.
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life helps those among us fight this disease and make a difference.
Today, Relay for Life 2013 will host a kick off event at Pioneer Park.
The event begins at 6PM and Newscenter 11 spoke to Chase Carter, Community Relationship Manager with the Cancer Society about their role in the fight against cancer.
He told us "We're the nations largest private funder of cancer research so it's not just staying here to support patients. Its going throughout the nation to come up with ground breaking cancer research."
