FAIRBANKS, AK -- With the season change, many of us clear out our closets and garage of items no longer needed but just don't have the heart to throw away.
Fortunately, the UAF Campus is the place to be this weekend if you want to pass on your used goods to others.
UAF Summer Sessions, in conjunction with the Wood Center Activities office is hosting their annual "Really Free Market" this Saturday from 10:00 am to Noon.
The market is a venue for those wishing to get rid of or people who need items ranging from clothing to small appliances, bikes to electronics.
Those wishing to drop items can do so beginning at 8:00 am.
The market will be re–located on the UAF campus, next to Lola Tilly Commons due to campus construction.
Organizers say no bartering or selling of items will be allowed at the market.
Though the market has been annual for many years, organizers say it coincides with the chancellor's vision of sustainability.
"It's just a great partnership with the community and it just made sense. When Michelle (Michelle Bartlett, UAF Summer Sessions) brought the idea to a few us, it just made sense. Why not recycle and re–use, or freecycle, freecycle is the term we are using. It absolutely fits with his idea and his mission of sustainability," said organizer Lydia Anderson.
