Ravens split in road non-conference slate at North Pole

NORTH POLE-There was high school hoops last night up the Richardson Highway at North Pole High School.

Ladies first. The Eielson Ravens came to visit in this non-conference dual and Katie Browder with the long two came to play. She had nine points for the Ravens. North Pole's Jasmine McCormick answers finishing off a nice inbounds play. McCormick had 13 points for the Patriots. But the Ravens led 27-17 at the half.

Then North Pole's Alix Parker, who had a team high 14 points, hits a three ball in the second half. The Patriots, without four starters stayed within eight or nine points going into the fourth quarter but Eielson kept going inside getting points in the paint.

Skylar Meiners, of Eielson, the lefty, had nine points and seven assists. She fed Larissa Franklin who had a game high 20 points and 16 rebounds. 11 of those boards were on the offensive glass. The Ravens pull away in the fourth and win 57-44 over North Pole.

In the boys game the Patriots we're playing after a week off but you couldn't tell if there was any rust at first as Garrett Sommer gets the steal and the bucket to start the game. But Eielson was in this one.

It was just 7-5 North Pole after one and the Ravens made it a 19-12 game in the second quarter. But the Patriots closed out the first half with some momentum and took a 23-12 lead at the break.

Their play carried over in the second half. Lance Wright, with the tip-in for two, led the Patriots with 12 points and 17 rebounds.

Tony Griffith had 12 to lead the Ravens in his return from an ankle injury. It wasn't enough as North Pole outscores the Ravens 44-25 in the second half and win 67-37 over Eielson.
