FAIRBANKS- After several years of operating in Fairbanks, North Star Radiology is in danger of closing. The state says they need a “certificate of need” to continue operating, which is meant to regulate health care competition. The owners of North Star Radiology have submitted their application and the state will hold public hearing tomorrow. The process determines if there’s enough demand for the service in Fairbanks. Currently, North Star Radiology and Fairbanks Memorial Hospital are the only providers of MRI and CT scans. The owners of North Star believe there is enough demand for their service and they would like the public to testify at the hearing which is Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Princess Lodge.
