Prescribed Burns begin this week

Beginning this week, local Firefighters will begin their yearly prescribed burns at several locations around the Interior.

The burns are part of a multi-year cooperative Community Wildfire Protection Plan that was enacted for the Fairbanks area.

The purpose of the prescribed burns is to reduce the fire risk in Fairbanks and around the Interior and to gear up for Fire Season in Alaska.

The burns are set to occur in North Pole near Repp and Hollowell Rd, The Salcha River Drainage, the McCloud Subdivision, Himalaya Road, and at the South fork of the Chena River near mile 13 on Chena Hot Springs Road.
