FAIRBANKS, Ak-There was some high school basketball over the weekend and some players put up some nice stats.
 
In girls basketball the North Pole Patriots missed out a chance to be tournament champs with a 59-51 loss to Thunder Mountain in the Thunder Mountain Tournament.
All the teams in the tourney finished with a 2-1 record so there was no declared champion.

Josie Broderick hit 27 points and 18 rebounds.

The Lady Rams of Monroe fell to the Valdez Buccaneers with 46-27 loss. The Rams are now 1-9 overall.

In boys basketball the Monroe Boys shipwrecked the Valdez Buccaneers 73-22 on Saturday. The Rams just defended and rebounded with 22 offensive boards and forced 28 turnovers.
The Rams are 13-1.

Scooter Bynum had a full state line with nine rebounds, seven of which were offensive, six steals, three assists and 0 turnovers. David Stepovich led Monroe with 19 points.
