Peak of flu season not yet reached

In response to the upswing in reported cases of influenza they are seeing at both Tanana Valley Clinic 1st Care and the Emergency Department at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, effective this Saturday, January 18th, TVC’s 1st Care Clinic will be offering flu vaccinations for anyone 3 years of age and older. The cost will be $35 per person. No appointment is needed. 1st Care is open from 8-8pm, 7 days a week.
Additionally, next Saturday, January 25th, Tanana Valley Clinic will be offering a Walk-in Community Flu Clinic for new and established patients, 6 months of age and older.  The Flu Clinic will be held from 9am to 5pm, in the Pediatrics Department on the 3rd floor.  The cost is $35 per person, no appointment necessary.
All TVC employees, physicians, volunteers and students received a flu vaccination by December 1 of last year. Those who were unable to receive the vaccination due to medical or religious reasons are required to wear a mask while in care settings (such as the clinic) during the flu season.
TVC encourages all family members in the household to get vaccinated and urges people to protect themselves from getting ill and spreading germs by such measures as washing their hands thoroughly; using hand sanitizers; covering their mouth when they sneeze or cough by using the crook in their elbow rather than their hands; and wiping down all hard surfaces with anti-bacterial wipes.
