Lance Wright had 13 points, 10 boards, six blocks and also caught converted a layup on the alley oop pass from Deaundre Cambell in the fourth quarter.
Hutch was down by 10 in the third but in the fourth Morgan John with the putback gave the Hawks a two point lead. John finished with 12 points. Then Khalil Steward answere with and and-1 to tie the game att 58 all. He missed the free throw but finished with 15 points and 19 rebounds.
Ryan Delaurie with the clutch basket would force overtime after a pair of Hutch free throws. It was tied 60-60 at the end of regulation.
Jordan Schuster happened in overtime as Steward and Buck Nolan fouled out for the Patriots.
Schuster put North Pole ahead 67-62 with less than two minutes. But Hutchison's Daniel Page answers with a three ball. Page had a game 23 points but Schuster responds with another bucket as he scored eight of his 10 in overtime. North Pole converted from the free throw line and held on for a 71-68 win in overtime.
The girls game wouldn't be as close, or would it? North Pole has been hit hard by injuries as Willow Stewart arguably their best player and Helen Hutchison were out.
But the Patriots started strong with Lindsay Daml's two of her team high four points coming off the glass to open the scoring in this one. The Patriots were up 9-8 over Hutch at one point then the Hawks just "turnt up" as the kids say. They went on 14-0 run and led 22-9 by the end of the first.
The Hawks allowed just 13 points winning 57-13 shutting out North Pole in the second half-credit the full court defense.
Kiana Edwards had a game high 14 points for the Hawks and Elly Veazey had 10.
