Patriots snap losing skid, Kenai wins big

FAIRBANKS-The North Pole Patriots got their first win over a 4A opponent on Saturday. There was some clutch play in this Patriots Eagle River Wolves game.

After a Jesse Johnson goal for the Wolves that tied the game at 1-1 after the first period Carmon Teel broke the tie to give the Patriots the lead. AJ Herbert had the assist. Herbert finished with two helpers.

The Wolves' responded as Wyatt Bebe tied the game at 2-2 halfway through the second period. But Dylan Latham scored what would be the game winner with 16 left in the second period. The third went scoreless as Jimmy Culley was in net for North Pole and made 18 saves.

The Patriots win 3-2.


Kenai rolls over Lathrop 11-5 on Saturday. Lathrop had five different players score but the Kenai Cardinals got five goals from TJ Wagoner. Josh Eubank added four assists.

Lathrop is 4-3-1 while Kenai improves to 5-3-1.
