Patriots end Colony curse, Lathrop still undefeated in softball

FAIRBANKS, AK-The South Davis fields were packed last night as teams fast pitched and hit their way to victories. Perhaps none bigger than the Patriots opening win of the night against the Colony Knights a team they haven't beaten in three years. It's been known as the Colony curse.

Thanks to Robin Heineken's pitching and the defense the Patriots were clinging to a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth. Then Kasey Ritchie the senior shortstop provides the clincher the double bringing in two Patriots. The Colony curse is no more. North Pole wins 6-3.

Other games at the South Davis field Lathrop wins 10-1 over Monroe. Colony bounces back with a 14-2 over Monroe after the North Pole game. After that big win for the Patriots Lathrop humbles North Pole 16-1 and remains undefeated.

Lastly,  Hutchison gets a big 11-6 win over the Aurora Conference leading Eielson Ravens both teams will be going to the state tournament.
