Parnell's Report Clears EPA Investigators

FAIRBANKS- Governor Sean Parnell released a final report about EPA’s raid of several mines last August. The counsel determines there is no evidence that the Environmental Protection Agency broke laws while investigating mines in the Forty Mile River area. The governor says he is still disturbed by the operation which involved armed federal agents looking for violations of the clean water act. The report also highlights poor levels of communication between federal and state agencies. EPA in a statement says the report confirms investigations were conducted "professionally and courteously."
